‍Come and join our growing band of volunteers!

‍Volunteering with Harlow Citizens Advice can be a rewarding way to make a real difference in people’s lives in the local community. Volunteers provide practical support, guidance, Information and/or advice, to individuals facing challenges such as debt, housing problems, employment issues, and access to benefits. By you offering a listening ear and reliable, accredited information, you can help people feel more confident and less alone during difficult times.

‍It is also a valuable opportunity for volunteers themselves. Working with Citizens Advice helps you to develop clearer communication, problem-solving skills, and working as part of an inclusive team, thereby giving people the chance to contribute to their local community. For many, it is a meaningful role that combines personal growth with the satisfaction of helping others. The training provided is the same training all staff and volunteers receive and is fully accredited.  Once qualified it can provide you with the increased opportunity of paid work either within Citizens Advice or in other organisations.

‍ ‍You will receive free training on:

  • ‍ Housing

  • ‍ Benefits

  • ‍ Debt and money

  • ‍ ‍Energy

  • ‍ ‍Employment

  • ‍ ‍Immigration

  • ‍ ‍Family Law

  • ‍ ‍Discrimination

‍ Below, one of our volunteers, Jiri Loveless, has told us why he volunteers with Harlow Citizens Advice:

“I am a volunteer adviser at Harlow Citizens Advice, and my main motivation for volunteering is to give back to the community while helping people understand their rights and what they are entitled to, echoing the well-known saying, “knowledge is power.”

As a volunteer advisor, I don’t focus on just one area; instead, I cover a wide range of issues, almost everything you can think of. Being able to support individuals through their cases from start to finish is extremely rewarding.

There is a mutual benefit in the relationship between advisor and client: the client receives the support they need, while we all work towards the same goal at Citizens Advice, to offer guidance, lend a helping hand, and make a positive contribution to the community.”

If you are interested or would like to find out more about us, please email to: Volunteering@harlowcitizensadvice.org.uk or visit our website www.harlowcitizensadvice.org.uk for more information on what we do.

Why don’t you come to our stand on the 18th of August 2026 in the Water Gardens between 10am and 2:30pm at the Volunteer Sector Showcase event organised by Rainbow, to talk to us about volunteering.
