Come and volunteer with us!!!  You will be surprised what it can do for you.

Volunteering for Citizens Advice Harlow is far more than simply giving up a few hours of your time. It is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives while also gaining invaluable skills and personal satisfaction. Every day, people from the local community turn to Citizens Advice when they are facing difficult situations, whether they are struggling with debt, housing issues, employment concerns, navigating complex benefits systems and sometimes a mixture of all these. Being able to offer support, reassurance, and practical guidance during these challenging times is incredibly rewarding and we know this as our client’s tell us as below:

“…I truly appreciate all your help, time, and guidance during the appointment today in filling out the form and submitting it to the DWP. Having your support has made this process so much clearer and less stressful for me….”

One of the greatest benefits of volunteering is the sense of purpose it brings. Knowing that your time and effort can help someone feel less alone, more informed, and more confident in tackling their problems is a powerful motivator. Many volunteers find that helping others gives them a renewed appreciation for their own strengths and abilities, while also building empathy and understanding of the challenges faced within their community. Here one of our volunteers says:

“The training is thorough and wide ranging to prepare for the breadth of Client enquiries and I have to say, I continue to learn things on a weekly basis, as I respond to Client enquiries. ….. I have been asked on several occasions why I volunteer at Harlow Citizens Advice. Overall, I do feel like I am 'giving back' to the Harlow Community and it is rewarding to know that you have helped someone to find a way forward to address their issues, it is always rewarding to hear someone say thank you for helping.

On a personal basis, I feel that volunteering makes me feel like I am doing something worthwhile and provides constant learning.”

Volunteering with Citizens Advice provides excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth. The training and experience gained help develop communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills that are valuable in any workplace. At the same time, volunteers become part of a supportive and welcoming team, creating lasting friendships and connections with like-minded people who share a desire to help others.

Whether you have a disability, or you are new to the area or come from a minorized group, whatever your background, you will be welcomed here at Citizens Advice Harlow.  You just need a good level of spoken and written English and some the ability to use a laptop.

By volunteering with Citizens Advice, you are not only supporting individuals in need but also helping to build stronger, fairer communities for everyone.
